Almeria
A beautiful interesting and suggestive day, walking through the streets of Almeria.
visit the famous Alcazaba: an ancient Arab fortress begun in 955, destroyed on September 22, 1522 by the earthquake. It consists of a triple circle of walls and magnificent gardens.
and then the
Cerro de San Cristóbal y Sagrado Corazón de Jesús: castle that also houses a large statue depicting Jesus Christ. It stands on the hill next to the Alcazaba to which it is connected by an imposing wall.
Catedral de la Encarnación: a cathedral with the appearance of a fortress, equipped with towers, battlements and a patrol path that served as a defense against pirates who infested the Mediterranean Sea. Originally it was a mosque then transformed into a church, destroyed by the earthquake of 1522, it was rebuilt in the sixteenth century by softening the original walls in Renaissance style. At the eastern end you can admire the Sol de Portocarrero, sixteenth-century relief that represents the sun and has become one of the symbols of the city.
I recommend visiting this city.
